RE: C-Well/B-Well Water Treatment Plant Opening
Thank you for your interest in West Carteret Water Corporation. As advertised, WCWC has an opening for an experienced B-Well Operator but is also accepting C-Well Operator applicants from those willing to be licensed within the next year.
In addition to the job description attached, we are providing the following expectations and treatment/system specifics to assist in helping you decide whether this is a position that you wish to continue to pursue:
- System: Three (3) elevated tanks, eight (8) wells, raw water aeration, Ion exchange (color/softening), iron removal, corrosion inhibitor, chloramine system (10 months); 189 miles of distribution (tree system). Average pumping 1.02 mgd in winter to 1.9 mgd in summer.
- Plant location – 4104 Highway 24, Newport, NC 28570 (Adjacent to Administrative Offices)
- 189 miles of distribution in western Carteret County along the Highway 24 Corridor, including major side roads, communities, and towns; Approximately 8,500 connections.
- Three (3) years’ experience preferred for either or combined certificate levels.
- Computer experience a must; Custom Wonderware SCADA System.
- Physical Chemical Certification or interest in obtaining a plus, but not necessary.
- Schedule: o Three shifts rotate weekly: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., 4 p.m. – midnight, midnight – 8 a.m. Includes holidays, unless on approved vacation. (Example: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday must return midnight. However, upon 5-day completion of midnight shift at 8 a.m. on Friday, next shift begins at 8 a.m. the following Wednesday.)
- Holidays recognized on actual date and currently paid double time for time worked in addition to holiday pay. For example, Christmas Day/8-hour shift would be calculated as 8 hours holiday pay plus 8 hours X 2 = 24 hours paid for 8-hour shift.
- Light to heavy housekeeping, such as cleaning vessels, keeping plant clean and office tidy.
- Pay Scale (based on previous years and practical experience):
- C-Well: $34,200 - $49,864 o B-Well: $37,800 - $54,920
- Other/Benefits:
- Currently, WCWC has 28 employees in all departments; 90-day probationary period for benefits/180 days for final performance review.
- Retirement: 401k-5% matching; Vesting program – 20% per year first 5 years
- Insurances available after 90-day probationary period: Major Medical – BCBS; $0/100% coverage (HSA deposit made for deductible). Dental, Vision, $50,000 Life. AFLAC is available as payroll deduction. Family coverages available with payroll deduction.
- Uniforms – Yearly shoe allowance; Pants, shirts, coats, and safety gear provided.
- 8 hours annual and sick leave accrue monthly after 90 day probationary period.
